Costa Rican Death Metal outfit INSEPULTO deliver a great deal of elements that we would expect from this beloved genre. Both gruff and sharper deep vocals are used to create a sinister vibe and they uphold the classic Black Metal drumming patterns. With grand track titles and creeping build-ups, their second album "The Necrodex" provides a variety of pace changes and guitar sounds to verify their place in the Death Metal category.

Their combination of Death Metal styles with Black Metal makes for quite an aggressive and forceful sound. Fourth track on the album, "Glorious and Grotesque" will probably keep your attention with its underlying, ominous guitar melodies , although seems to be hidden beneath the slightly overpowering drum work. The vocals alternate between a deep, low and gruff Death Metal style then towards a sharper low voice with a Black Metal edge.

Sixth track "Apocalyptic Godless Intervention" was probably my favourite track on the album as I felt that it had the most diversity through the track and in comparison to the remaining tracks. The steadying guitar rhythms mixed with those classic dark vocals seemed to be slightly superior to the rest of the album. Having said this, the track after, "Grand Black Messiah" was almost as impressive in it's structure and tone. Varying from fast, grinding riffs to a slower pace proved a good way to break up the track. It also featured some wailing guitar work, which I thought was also key towards the development of the song.

It is not often we come across Central American bands with such aggression and force, yet these guys deliver both of these with added diversity in their work. I can really hear the time and effort that has gone into this album, from the crispness of the recording to the writing itself.
