PROFANITY is a Death/Progressive/Extreme Metal band based out of Germany. Formed in 1993, the band had released two previous full-length albums in 1997 and 200, but have been on hiatus since 2002. This new EP, "Hatred Hell Within," contains three tracks. The fury that is unleashed with the opening drum fill of "Melting" is unparalleled. It's as if an M-60 is being fired with the trigger held firm, obliterating the target and spraying loose shells all around. Though the first part of the track is fast, technical and brutal, there are some breaks here and there, where some more melodic guitar parts provide some sweet frosting for the dirty, blackened cake of Death Metal. The atmospheric fade out at the end is interesting as well, and reminds me in many ways of a band like "FALLUJAH". The next two tracks are a bit longer. "I Am Your Soul" features some nimble harmonic guitar runs as part of the main riff, glittering over the bed of pure insanity that it the vocals and percussion in particular. Variations in the meter are sometimes so fast that they are incomprehensible, and would require your brain to turn into a metronome in order to break them down. During the first guitar solo section you can really pick up on the Progressive elements of the band as well. Closing the album is the title track, "Hatred Hell Within." Once again the riff and meter changes are relentless and omnipresent, swirling all around you and engulfing you like an unstoppable magnetic force.

I especially like the ominous bells towards the end of the song and the chord progressions that come along with it. Stylistically I would call this very Technical Death Metal with some Progressive elements as compliment. As is common in this style, the demands on the drummer are just impossibly high, and drummer Armin Hassmann is simply amazing in providing the rhythm and meter for the album. This is a seasoned Metal band who are doing advanced calculus through music.
