Thread of Omen - Palace of the Fathers album cover

South Africa had armed the world of melodic death metal with a new weapon named THREAD OF OMEN from Durbanville, 10 songs with strong chemistry between fast and precise drumming that carry the load of the guitars, as it was easy, to the melodies that are the core of "Palace of the Fathers".

The vocals are rude, on the mid high peach of the growling, with no problem to shape shift to low tunes and long screams and presence of the bass guitar player Mathew Cox gives the entire album a boost to the ear.

The album blasts with "A Flooded Battleground" that drives the melodies to ensure whoever picked to listen to this gets a full attack of racing guitars and fast solos, "Ritual of Blood and Glory" blast us with high grinding of the drums and powerful high speed double bass and continue to themes that sweep the song up and down between the blasting to the melodic parts with a cheeky attitude.

"Curse By Binding And Slaughter" is where we can actually hear the drummer Steyn Lotter answer the vocalist Victor van den Heever in every corner of the song, giving it another level of great song writing.

The album continue to be one of the great surprises I had listened to in a while, each song has a theme of its own, it is full of riffs and guitar solos that are unique and fun to listen to. "Master of Phantoms" the vocals take the lead and show its technic and ability to carry long verses to high levels of endurance and interest."Rising of the Imprisoned God" is the main course of this album with a bit of oriental touch in the riffs and powerful drumming upraises the listener towards the end of the album and leaves a taste for more. All that is left after 10 songs is to wait for another album from THREAD OF OMEN.
