Today comes one of three reviews based on the German Metal legends, WIZARD. Honestly, this is a first for me to do three albums in a row from the same band, so what we have here folks, is the bands fourth studio release entitled "Head Of The Deceiver".
I wanted to start this one of with the records first track entitled "Evitum Okol". From the very start we hear thunder and lighting clash and bells chime, as a voice in the dark calls out to an unknown force calling for him to drink a potion, which then sends out waves of energy and chants that begin the song with a bang. Though this is an intro, I felt it important to add, as this is something pretty badass for any listener who has just started to listen to what this band is about to bring.
We now come to the main track entitled "Magic Potion". From the very start, we have drums and guitars that blast in like a hit of speed, taking me to a place of hyper powered vocals and everything here is just incredible. It takes the listener to an unknown territory which just makes you want to explore it and take everything as your own. This tune is truly an eye opener to any Metal fan, as it has intense, fast, and powerful tunes, which lead you onwards to places high and low of every nature and it's just fun to listen to all in all, as it is a song you can drink to and have a good time with at the same time, which is what you want in a song of this quality.
Next, I would start to think, with a "Collective Mind". Now with this track, we have here a very battle type song, which in my opinion, leads us down to bands like MANOWAR, but also there is a strong MAIDEN (IRON MAIDEN) vibe, which just flow so well with the tune and makes it stand out as one of the best on this record, which says that the band have really formed a record of classics and chants, which is just incredible, though it can be said, without a doubt, that the thing that stands out, is vocalist Sven D'Anna's powerful voice, which leads me into a new world of extreme images and war themed intensity.
To conclude, I feel that this is the base for powerful and original German Heavy Metal, which goes to show where a lot of Germanys heroes found their strength from; in my opinion, this record is intense and just incredible!.
