Hailing from Kingston NY, the power-trio GEEZER throws you unceremoniously right into the heavy blues swamp in the new EP, "Gage".

The EP starts off with a droney, swampy vibe that is excellently performed and gives you just the right blend bluesy, post-apocalypsy, it's-the-end-of-the-world-and-I- don't-give-a-fuck kind of feel that made me fall in love with the genre... The vocals however are far from the standard for that vibe and take a little listening to appreciate. From the swamp, GEEZER takes you into the deep desert heat with their track "Thorny" - think a dusty cowboy town in midday, walking into the saloon - the track sounds like the images rolling in your head.

"Ghost Rider Solar Plexus" takes you off on another Stoner trail, a fuzzy heavy groove that would have you bobbing your head to it pretty quick, and the one who seems to compliment señor Harrington's vocals the most. About midway the song goes into a very sweet guitar solo/musical exploration reminiscent of good ol' KYUSS.
The EP ends with two droney, Space-Rocky tunes that most of all reminds me of HAWKWIND in their finest days.

So the EP takes us from the swamp to the desert, to the fuzzy city and then to outer space - and I believe that sums up perfectly the problem I had with it. Pun aside, half-baked could also describe it well - every part by itself is great, but together it doesn't feel like a complete fit. More like a collection of different Stoner Rock ideas than a unified piece of art.

As for me, I'm looking forward to more releases from those guys, hopefully completely baked.
