Greetings earthlings and headbangers all over the world, I'm OverlyMetalJames and I return to bring a very intriguing album review! KRYSANTEMIA with their third release "Finis Derium",
and I have to say, on first listen, I as not really impressed, I felt this album lacked a lot, in terms of creativity, but after a week of listening to it, I grew to like it.
In regards to the song structure on the face of this album, I feel that the sound is very much applicable, but with KRYSANTEMIA being a small band, I'm not expecting a lot, whether it be positive or negative. The album "Finis Derium", is a deeply interesting listen, and has a reasonable amount of brutality to have fans moshing like that old lady on YouTube who buys cat food for all of her pet cats and you see this "cat-style-wall-of-death", it's bloody funny that's how I would describe this album; it's well balanced.
It's also very clear that KRYSANTEMIA are influenced by the likes of KREATOR, SLAYER, TESTAMENT and many others. I would recommend this album to anyone who likes the influences mentioned above. The weakest point of this album is the production, and could have been done better. If the band were going for a thrash/death sound, they really should have done a lot more on the production; I am not trying to come across as a harsh bastard with this review, I'm just giving suitable criticism where the opinion is fitted to the situation. But needless to say, KRYSANTEMIA is a majestic band with loads of potential to work their way up to the big stage, like Hulk Hogan in his prime. And I guarantee that KRYSANTEMIA will be a show stealer and huge crowd draw, especially since they did a European tour with "Black Metal" legends MARDUK and BELPHEGOR earlier this year and I have heard great things and hope to see them live and tear down the walls of Jericho and have people headbanging like crazy and steal the show!
All in all, I love the album. The band is super talented with sounds I haven't heard so far from the arsenal of KRYSANTEMIA", but I can't give this album any rating higher than a six-out-of-ten. But there is certainly open room for improvement, not a lot, so this should be easy for the band to see if they can outdo themselves on the next record. And in terms of success, I wish them WrestleMania level that reach concert venues on that large of a scale. Well, go to your local record store and buy-or-die!
Stay metal, brothers and sisters!!<
