Sludgehammer - Organ Harvester album cover

SLUDGEHAMMER, a death metal band hailing from Toronto Canada, is back with their latest effort "Organ Harvester". It combines face-melting riffs with groveling, roaring lyrics to create a relentless, powerful sound that is all SLUDGEHAMMER'S own. It does not end there. Unlike most death metal acts, SLUDGEHAMMER has a unique groove metal sound intermixed into their latest effort.

"Organ Harvester" is exactly what the name suggests: a brutal death-metal beat-down. The album's opening track, appropriately titled "Organ Harvester" lives up to its brutal name with groveling, growling vocals, relentlessly powerful drumming, and driving, thunderous guitar riffs. There is still an element of melody to the entire piece as inserted drum and guitar solos add some groove to the otherwise brutal feel of the opening track. "Raising Spirits", continues the brutality of SLUDGEHAMMER'S latest release as it continues to mix its brutal sound in with grooves to push the album forward. The topic of discussion during this song as one would imagine is the spirits that the band will raise as they dismember human bodies. "Feasible Immortality" is driven by a heart-stopping drumbeat that guides the album's third track. "Payment Due" opens with low, deep guitars, and slow, eerie drumbeat with more groveling vocals kicking in as the song progresses. This track sees the band demanding payments that have been past due. They want these payments right now. The song is rounded out by finishing with more slow melodies and slower instrumental solos, adding an element of groove to SLUDGEHAMMER not seen in most death metal bands. "Wendigo" continues the driving sound of "Organ Harvester" while demanding that you bow to your gods, and hoping that they save you this time. They are the only things that can save you. The closing track "Eradicate" finishes off the brutal beat-down while talking about the final end of this entire battle where people are eradicated and "dispersed with guns". The theme of the album comes off exactly as the title would suggest, discussing the general dismemberment of a human body, and telling the human to pray to their gods for salvation to save them. It's brutal and relentless, while providing some melodies and grooves with instrumental solos throughout the album. The album cover furthers the concept of "Organ Harvester" by showing a cartoon corpse being dismantled with organs coming out. The cartoon-corpse is being dismembered by what looks like skeletons, which furthers the entire great concept of the album.<
