When you fuse together the sounds of Hard Rock & Heavy Metal, often you can good results. With some bands, it leans more towards the Hard Rock sound and with others it leans more towards the Heavy Metal sound and with some, it's a fusion of both with their own personal touches added in to make it unique and different from others and the band featured in this review are just that and their name is ANNOMINUS.

ANNOMINUS are a Danish quintet that formed in 2009 and two years later in 2011, they released their debut EP "Vashta Nerada" which for some strange reason reminds me of something from Dr. Who with a title like that. After playing a few big concerts including some as a support band for AMORPHIS, the band went into the studio in the fall of 2013 to record their debut album "End of Atonement" which will be out on November 17^th 2014.

The album which runs in at around 41 minutes with a total of 10 tracks is a mixture of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal with a few melodic elements thrown in as well which already gives it points as I do like melodic sounding music and those who know me well will know why.

The sound of this record is very hard and heavy with lots of heavy riffs, pounding drum beats, insane guitar solos and a pretty melodic vocal performance too. Granted yes there are times when the words are a bit hard to make it out at times but the performance and the delivery makes up for that so it's not really something worth worrying about.

So far so good so you must be thinking that there's not a single thing wrong with it right? Hate to burst your bubble as there is one thing that does put me off slightly. As good as this record is for the most part, it's mainly the album's last 4 tracks which are making me a bit uncertain. I mean the music on those tracks is very hard, heavy and melodic just like the rest of the record but the inclusion of Thrash Metal style vocals which of course involves a lot of screaming and shouting just doesn't do it for me as I find it slightly spoils the music a little bit but that's just me.

So what is my overall verdict on this album? I like it for the most part but as mentioned above, the last 4 tracks are good but the inclusion of those Thrash Metal type vocals in places deducts a point or two off the final score. It doesn't ruin the music altogether as this is a band that like to add in their own personal touch to their sound and yes they do pull it off but personally I'll stick to the first 6 tracks on this record. That said however if you do like that type of music in the albums and bands you like then you will definitely enjoy it no question.
