Suborned - From Space album cover

Hailing from Switzerland comes the new Thrash Metallers SUBORNED. In 2010 the band joined with SAOL records, performing live shows. After a well-received live performance, the band went into recording their first EP "Hazardous Substance". After the release of this EP, the band had the opportunity to open for bands such as DESTRUCTION, MUNICIPAL WASTE, and VADER. It also allowed them the chance of playing in large festivals and performances abroad. Now they are back, after the drummer change, with their debut full length album "From Space". "From Space" is nine tracks long and about 40 minutes worth of listening time.

"From Space" starts with "Hit It". Conveniently enough, the track is four minutes and 20 seconds long; goes well with the lyrical content of the track. The musicianship shown in this track is pretty intense. It starts fast and furious, in Thrash Metal fashion. The vocals took me by surprise when they came in. I wasn't sure if I detested them or if I loved them; that to me makes the best music. When you aren't sure if you should like it or not, that's when new doors to music opens. The vocals are female with a very ruff tone and so different from many Thrash Metal bands I've heard. The guitars are incredible. There is no denying the guitar work in this album along with the bass. I love hearing that bass in it the back ground. It makes the entire sound come together. The drums are fast but aren't just blast beats and creatively mastered.

Track three "Sexolence" is another extremely creative track. The vocals in this one are pretty amazing. It shows the anger, but has tone differentiation. Again, the musicianship great, there are memorable guitar solos, great bass lines, and creative drum work. Track eight, "Demon" is probably one of my favorite tracks. The emotion in this one is too real. This track has great lyrical content and great musical content. The guitar intro is the hook that pulls the ear to this track. The vocals are intense. She does an amazing job of creating not only an entertainment tone here, but also an emotional one. Her growls are probably on par with the demon she refers to. "Demon" is the track that shows the brilliance of the group as a whole.

"From Space" is an outstanding debut album. It is different, it is creative, and it is Thrash. The musicianship is stunning and the production is on par. This album is too good to be a debut. It sound like SUBORNED has been around much longer than just four years. This album deserves a listen and a spot in your collection. SUBORNED created a Thrasher out of me.
