Coming from a completely DIY outlook into releasing Crime Upheaval, BODDICKER represent everything that is underground and fresh. This EP continues to explore their Grindcore, Death Metal influences as their pure power is being the violence found within each song.
Luring your ears into this explosive sent, "Crime Upheaval" slowly breaks its self-down into small ligaments that engage with a sense of melody before growls of vocals are introduced, overlaying the rough sound. A definite crowd pleaser, as this short track then follows up with a similar sounding tune, progressing deeper.
The EP tends to keep things short and snappy as each song finishes just as the other starts, with a slight transformation to the latter end where the buildup is more conserved to last. However the placement of these, do play a massive affect in the grand scheme of things as it shows off exactly what BODDICKER are about.
Like any other Grindcore bands, the heavy theme of despite and hatred seem to be overwhelming this EP as complimentary vocals allow for this effect to be made, supporting their raw lyrically content. As found in "Bath Salt Baptism", this track fools your buds completely, beginning with a steady drum beat, all components come crashing down for the verses before restoring slightly within the courses to take you on a roller-coaster ride.
Dating back to old school ways, this EP was originally released on cassettes which are taylor made for the band as it shows a sense of decay to capture their real sound. When listening to this EP in the right environment, either it being on vinyl or tape there is sure to be a image of being stuck in a grotty basement of a pub, being surrounded by large angry men who just want to sweat all over you for a couple of hours. For some reason this twisted fantasy somehow makes you even more drawn to the sounds which are exploding.
Ending with a cover of "Brand New God" the track closes the album just how it started, filled with fast paced movement and gnarly barks, the EP holds strong together, with each track doing their part in making it solid.
