Witchmaster - Antichrist Ex Utero album cover

Back in 1996 the Black Thrash Metal band WITCHMASTER emerged from Poland. The band aimed to play Extreme Metal the way it should be "raw, violent, and filthy". If you've looked over the lineup you'll notice many names from the Metal community from other bands. The one that caught my eye the most, because for me, he is the best drummer on Earth, is Inferno (BEHEMOTH) is back, as in he was an original member, with WITCHMASTER, after nearly ten years.  The band is back with their fifth full-length album release. "Antichrist Ex Utero" was released October 28, 2014. Just a few short days before one of the darkest days of the year, All Hollows Eve, Halloween, or the many other names it goes by around the world.

"Antichrist Ex Utero" is here with "a relentless thrash black metal assault with lyrics dealing with death-worship, genocide, terror, sadomasochism and the like". Expect a heavy, heart populating, engaging, and extreme album.

All those adjectives plus many more describe the music that this band creates. For WITCHMASTER to have been around almost two decades with four other full lengths released among the multiple EPs and demos, it is interesting that there doesn't seem to be a large fan base following these guys. I think, that is about to change with the release of "Antichrist Ex Utero".

The album starts just as heavy as it ends and never lets up in between. The guitar work in the album is exemplary. Creating a hard melody where needed, but nothing that would change this hard-hitting album into something any softer than the best Black Thrash Metal. The base line is remarkable and keeps everything flowing seamlessly from one track to the next without as much as a hiccup.

Obviously, the drums are artwork in themselves. Having the best (or one of the best for those who would beg to differ) drummers on your team has an advantage for sure. The drums are incomparable. They are just fast, brilliant, and did I mention fast? There are incredible blast beats that never sound the same and a remarkable speed that is untouchable.

The vocals are low and gritty and exactly the Black Metal way. They are pretty impressive and have a great ranger of growling anger to accompany the rest of the sound of WITCHMASTER and their newest piece "Antichrist Ex Utero".

Overall, the album is everything one would look for in a Black Thrash Metal piece and will complement most all Metal collections. I will be enjoying this one for a long time to come.
