WINTERHEART are a Hungarian Suicidal / Depressive Black Metal band that formed by Adam Toth as a one-man band in 2007. But only in 2011 he found the members of the band and then the band started to work on her debut "My Journey To Suicide" which released in the summer of 2012.
Now, two years after, the band are releasing their brand new album that is named "Facing What I'm Becoming". The album contains a brand new 8 tracks.
As he's name implies "My Crumbling World" really is a crumbling song, but still its works very good to the band. The song starts with some strong growls and very heavy stuff and also some melodic parts. The thing that makes me to really love this song is that the band got no limits, and they are not afraid to break the conventions of the genre.
"Broken Pureness Cries" is not falling away from the previous song, also a great Melodic Death Metal song with no limits and with full with a lot of shades. "Aslyum of Awake Nightmares" got a good melodic, but the problem is that he is not going anywhere in all of his 9 minutes of song, there are some parts that sounds the same and its feels like that the band just wanted to do a very long song.
"I'm Still Nothing" is the heaviest and fastest song yet, absolutely one of the strongest song in the album. "As I Fade Away" is very unnecessary track in the album. I got no problem with instrumental tracks but at least an instrumental that its or that they are short or that something is happening in them.
"The Will For Nothing" is the most closest to Thrash Metal song in the album, fast and extremis. Very different than what they done yet, and it's not for better. The song is just not bringing a new thing and sound the same. "And Finally...I Just Hate Myself" is a much angrier and much better song. As the hits of the album, this song is also breaking the conventions of the genre, not afraid to do some crazy stuff and to put acoustic parts next to some crazy growls.
"Meghalok" is following this way too, but the problem is that with all of his attempts to sound more epic and darker, he just sounds not interesting. Personally, I really don't like bands that trying to do a melodic epic sound, maybe someone else will love this song, but I am not
In the bottom line, WINTERHEART contains some very talented band, they got no limits, they got a lot of courage, and they are doing what they want with their music. But the band's problem is that they didn't invest in this album, not in the sound of the album and not in the songs. As I said they are talented and this is why there are some very good songs in the album. But if you want to make a good album you have to invest something in him. The focus is on the first songs in the album, but what about all the rest? They didn't came to their full potential .Album is not something that you are just published, you need to invest in him, and if WINTERHEART were doing it than the album could been much better.
