Ehhhhhhhhhh I dunno... I don't think I like this record straight off the bat. I did a quick click through all of the songs and I just don't think I can stomach it. Sure if you're into repetitive blasts and in-your-face guitars then you're gonna have a good time, but otherwise, I'm not so sure this will be one for me to repeat. I may sound harsh, but the truth hurts.
Let's begin with the first track, "The Fall Of Civilization", which I feel is a great ambient start to an album. I love a good mystical/obnoxious and pretentious introduction to an album, it can set the mood to a good heavy punch in your face, yet when it goes into "Burned Breath", it comes out of no where and I feel a little let down. I want some indication that it's coming so I can headbang at the right moment and feel satisfied with the claustrophobic bass in my ears. Needless to say, once you've listen to the second song, you've basically listened to the whole album. Each song is just grunt blast, grunt blast, heavy bit, grunt blast. Sure the technical skill of each member is incredible (especially Shon on the drums, being a drummer myself I was very impressed with his speed and stamina), but the way they put it to use is not up to a high standard. They could do so much more with the tools they have that it kind of makes me a bit angry. One song does stand out from the rest, "Alienation". This may be the only song that doesn't fit the structure I previously described, this is just good old fashioned heavy shit that I want to hear more of from this band.
There's not really much more to say other than...please do something better next time. Make it tuneful, add some variance, just do something different, I do have faith!
