Incinery - Dead

Incinery are a Thrash Metal band from Nottingham, UK. "Dead, Bound and Buried," is their latest album released in 2014. They've only been around since 2009 so are a young band in comparison to the thrash giants they are competing with, but they are just as good musicians as those that have been around a long time such as Dave Mustaine. Their sound is similar to bands like NAPALM DEATH and SLAYER. In other words, their music is not for the faint hearted. If you do listen to this album, just be warned, Incinery are brutal.

The album starts with an instrumental piece "With Strange Aeons" and from the get go you get punchy guitar lines that attack your ears with full force. The intro then leads into the first full track "Death May Die." The music makes you restless, especially if you are sitting down and listening to it with headphones on.  It causes a form of electricity to travel through your insides and you get the urge to just go crazy. This is due to the loud shredding and hammering percussion. There is also some top notch, face melting guitar solos, specifically on the title track which is a tremendous closure to the album.

A lot of the song titles evoke a powerful image in your mind of the narrative of the song, similarly to the Symphonic Metal sub genre which always has killer song titles that almost act as a description of the story. Some of the song titles include "His Dark Materials," "Silent Supremacy" and "The Tragedy of One." His Dark Materials had the most impact in terms of enhancing the song and its story. This is because it introduces the protagonist being sung about but also the theme of rebellion and possibly references to evil beings. "The Madmans Tale" also has a similar effect.

Ultimately "Dead, Bound and Buried" is a great Post Thrash album. It incorporates the speed of old school thrash but also includes elements of modern day hard core such as the screaming vocals. The Art work also does a good job at representing all the concepts, narrative and themes in the album. The actual image itself is really impressive. The knights, the prisoners and the Romanesque background looks like it could belong in a video game. Give this album a shot if you love music that you can go crazy too.
