To hear a new name in the scene of Metal is always great. I like very much the genres of Groove Metal and Death Metal, especially when both of the genre's pioneers DEATH and PANTERA influenced my writing skills, the start of my guitar playing, and my love for music, while for Heavy Metal especially. The band SUBSERVIENCE is to release one of the most underground, brutal EP's to be released in those genres of music, "Upheaval". Armed with lethal lyrics, great music and angry self introduction, you are about to explore one of my most astonished moments from hearing an EP.
In those 20 minutes of great brutal explore of the hardcore musical genre, Death Metal, you will enjoy 4 songs. the song named "Upheaval", A song that really defines the real meaning of the Technical Death Metal genre, which clashes the familiar sounds of the pioneers of this genres of music such as DECAPITATED, CANNIBAL CORPSE and many good others. I can easily compare this EP to their greatests tunes such as "Hammer Smashed Face", "Human Dust", and many other great ones. However, the lack of melodies really bugs me in the matter of this album. It could be much greater and much more cooler to my opinion if it featured more melodies. From the other side, this album is exactly what's it is all about - Death Metal.
I know, this review was rather short to the reviews I usually write, but since the song might just be a continues 20 minutes of great brutality, I counted everything I heard in it. It is great, it is punching, and however - it's pretty simple and I would love to hear more from a new, modern Death Metal band.<
