It's Time To Paralyze
The Von Deer Skulls

THE VON DEER SKULLS is a French based band with members from different countries; Canada, Germany and Scandinavia, formed in 2012. They have the habit of wearing masks when playing live and their style of music is quite confusing, a mix of Rock, Doom and whatever really, very weird indeed.
The CD kicks off with an "Intro" followed by "The Way Of The Shadow": lots of effects in the background, strange voices whispering low notes, very low guitar riffs. "From The Wood", again, a very mellow approach at times, sounding very depressing and sad, with rich guitars soft to the ears making it very easy to listen to. Overall all the songs follow the same path, slow and at times feeling quite spacey, I am not quite sure what THE VON DEER SKULLS wanted to achieve with this album or if perhaps it is just an experiment; bottom line is the music is not bad at all, the fact that they perform live wearing masks would make more sense after all, perhaps a kind of play from the bottom of a dark hole or something like that, I have to say that they are very smart indeed. I am not going to write them off at all, on the contrary I think everyone should check it out and make their own mind.
As production goes I think they have done a good job, cover art also very cool!
