Deatherapy - Look

I'm not a fan of using subgenres in general, but in the world of Deathcore, there are the heavy hitters with which many metalheads are familiar. THY ART IS MURDER. SUICIDE SILENCE. WHITECHAPEL. Let me begin by saying for me, the general feel to this album is that of a sound most similar to ROSE FUNERAL. Not such a well-known fact is that such an accomplished band comes from Treiste, Italy.

Bigtime breakdowns. Aggressive palm-mutes on open chords. High and low growls on vocals. Don't be confused, this is some seriously heavy music. While listening through the track progression, (unlike some bands which use massive distortion) I wasn't overwhelmed by the obliterating guitar effects and the blistering speed of some of the faster riffs I heard, so it was easy to listen. One drawback I feel is worth mentioning is the lack of groundbreaking new music or variety in general. It seems there is only so much a band can do with the techniques and style of music heard throughout each song.

Still, I personally believe that this album would be fantastic to hear live. Each of the musicians featured in this band are extremely accomplished on their respective instruments and serve well in their specific roles in the band's niche in the world of Metal. Listeners could easily find themselves headbanging while air-guitaring in a wide stance very near to the ground, forced into such a position by the pulse of the percussion and the weight of the low-end chords. Seriously heavy stuff indeed, "Look, We Are Dying" is a fine addition to the collections current and future fans of DEATHERAPY.<
