IDOLS OF APATHY are a Metalcore, band which hails from the county of Essex in northern England. The band was conceived in 2013.  Although having only a total running time of just over 15 minutes, this debut five song EP "Unheard Words" is a sonic assault from nearly start to finish.

The opening track "Rebirth" is an instrumental, which begins with a very clean, ethereal ambience before crushing you with a breakdown typical of the genre.  Guitars and drums join together for a seemless breakdown extravaganza, with occasional passing leads interspersed throughout. Vocalist Jack Paul Dervish opens the second song "Death Row," with some absolutely brutal, layered screams.  The power and delivery of the vocals are clear, but they do lack some character. However the assault has begun.  The instruments are absolutely precise while pounding out a Djent du jour style landscape of musical complexity.  The drumming is technical, and chock full of complex breakdowns.  The bass is thick and pummelling, and guitar work is locked in rhythmic precision with the aforementioned instruments.

Although the band is comprised of clearly capable musicians they fall into the trap of nearly every song sounding the same.  "The Devil's Clocktower, & Ventriloquist," while being face-melting offer up much of the same as heard on the opening two tracks.   The standout track on this EP is "Deceiver." Once again Jack Paul Dervish orally assaults with a ferocity that is most impressive.  The rapid-fire way in which the vocals are delivered in syncopation with the music is truly astounding.  IDOLS OF APATHY are definitely a band that should be watched closely.  Although not a completely original act they do the Metalcore genre justice, and would fit nicely along any major label Djent-infused core of the day.  Fans of the genre will love these guys. And with this level of quality from their debut EP I would expect great things for the future of IDOLS OF APATHY.
