Ashes You Leave - Songs Of The Lost (Reissue) album cover

To start off with we being with the track "Song of the Lost", I found it to be a very interesting song to start off with as it has a certain something to it that I find both melodic and very emotional, the song itself starts with a very strange tone which leads on to become more driven with heavy melodic chorus, the sound emitting from this band shows a classic funeral doom atmosphere. The vocal stylings of Tamara Mulaosmanovic' show a very emotional standing, almost as if she has come face to face with a force that cannot be taken down, I felt that her way of singing is a very unique form of melodic venture which has both a way of normal speech mixed with the accompany of melodic structure, truly a powerful, and incredible talent to be able to bring both these elements into one song.

The next song that I decided to choose was the PLACEBO cover "Every You Every Me", I have never really listened to Placebo myself but from listening to the bands cover I found that they had taken this song and molded it into their own as if restructuring the element that made this song to begin with, the aggression found within this cover is incredible to say the least, there is this dark beauty which flows through this song, making me almost interested in given PLACEBO a chance, I mean after listening to such an incredible take on this song I would be interested in seeing what else this band could take on as well, it seems that they have total control over the idea of restructuring a song and making it seem almost theirs to begin with.

To conclude, I didn't know anything about this band when I started, but from listening to this reissue I find that I have come across a very unique band which has many different faces of talent and idea, whatever comes next for ASHES YOU LEAVE I definitely hope it brings them closer to a new step in their evolution.
