Sleazy Roxxx - Dangerous Obsession album cover

Czech Republic may not be the first region on your mind when you think of Metal and Rock; nonetheless, here we have Glam Rockers SLEAZY ROXXX. Think a baudier MÖTLEY CRÜE, if such a thing were possible; I may listen to a lot of out-there Death Metal, but this band throws political correctness out the window; rejoice.

"Porn to be Wild"; believe it or not, this is not a parody take on the titular track, but a melodic, thick chunk of hard rock that is oozing with sleaze, and catchy hooks as typical of the genre, and I am not referring to the strange, explicit 'voiceovers'. Clearly, the first and foremost point of this band's music is to let loose and have unadulterated fun.  "Draw the Lion" was immediately one of my favorites; it has an incredibly strong intro that is chock-full of beautifully catchy Euro-melodic guitars. The choruses even remind me of later EDGUY albums, thanks to Lee's characteristic combination of nasal and husky vocal timbres; a very strong Glam track if I've ever heard one.

"Long Way to Mexico" is an adorably up-beat piece with inexcusably strong Punk sounds, instantly recognizable in the arrangement of the riffs and the triviality of the chord progressions. I was not truly expecting to find tracks like this on an album with such an outwardly 'Glam' premise. Once again, catchy choruses take the cake here. "White Gold" may be the single serious track on the entire record, opening up with a touching, balladic intro, the vocals tamed down to dulcet, slightly-husky croons. The way this track progresses seems different to previous efforts, and is on average a far more liquid and follow able transition; I would even go as far as saying "moving".

Do not let the album's sleazy premises turn you away, if that does not already tickle your fancy, because this album contains a number of, to say the least, interesting, gems.
