Deathrage - Self Conditioned Self Limited (Reissue) album cover

Here we have a reissue of and album from 1988, DEATHRAGE from Italy and their debut "SELF CONDITIONED, SELF-LIMITED". It takes me back to a time where there was lots of thrash metal going on but it was still underground. The album contains eight tracks and four demos (three of which are included as regular tracks).

DEATHRAGE have the typical thrash sound reminiscent of other thrash pioneers and titans, such as ANTHRAX, EXODUS, SUICDAL TENDENCIES, D.R.I. and MOTORHEAD
Utilizing fast and chugging riffs, some dual guitar harmonies, speedy solos, (not as much as I like) double bass drumming and lots of cymbal chokes.

"Hard times are coming", the lead off track had me hooked right away, I feel it's a good idea to put a strong song first. No matter what the genre or amount of singles, its imperative to have a good song for first impressions, DEATHRAGE did just that!!

"Killing for Fame" has some fun percussion on the chorus which adds to the cheekiness of thrash. "United States of Redskins" is a pretty good instrumental. "Call of Death" and "Master of Nothing" are good all-around songs. All the demos sound good and I dig "Tramp's Choice" which wasn't contained in the original album.

Overall, I think this is a good album and there is a place for it in any metal heads musical library, nothing extravagant or ground-breaking but good non the less.
