Israeli based guitarist Avi Rosenfeld is a multi-talented musician who was born and raised on a healthy diet of his father's Heavy Metal vinyl collection. At a young age he quickly grew fond of both URIAH HEEP and DEEP PURPLE. Subsequently, in a move to honor some of his greatest influences, he has entitled this album:  "Very Heepy Very Purple".

"Trumpets of War" is the first track on this album, and does a great job of starting the party, hitting hard right off the bat with a catchy guitar riff, so classic to the early genres of Rock and Heavy Metal. With the addition of some fabulous Hammond organ harmonies and rounded off with some vivacious vocals, and of course, the solo, this one is a definite winner and certainly leaves you hungering for more!

Second up is "Into the Battle", following much in the footsteps of "Trumpets of War", it too carries a good rolling momentum, although what stands out here is the solo battle between the lead guitar and the Hammond organ. These two duel it out for a good third of the duration of the song! Pretty epic if you ask me!

Track three, "The One Who Will Be King", has a bit of a Folky feel to it and makes for a nice change.

"Yemei Ha-Hanukkah" is a fun and fast paced instrumental, which sees the talents of Sven-Martin Keil burning up the sax.

Another interesting track is "Land of the Nile", more of a darker, dirtier ballad in comparison to the rest of the album. It also features guest vocalist Rainer Michael Ludwig, who's almost operatic Power Metal style vocals add a certain element that can be closely compared to that of IRON MAIDEN's Bruce Dickenson. Another slower track is "Midnight Comes" which has a rather mischievous feel to it.

"Noflim El HaTehom" holds a certain uniqueness that is possibly due to the fact that it is sung in Hebrew! But most notably would be the solo, where an extract from BEETHOVEN's Fue Elise is very nicely incorporated.

The album ends off on a slower note, with the very Bluesy number "Wake Up". This is a perfect end to the album, and seems to help us wind down after such an energetic journey.

Avi Rosenfeld has accomplished so much in such a short amount of time releasing a total of 16 albums since 2009! That is an average of 3 albums a year! That said, you would think that somewhere along the lines there would be some kind of compromise in quality, but quite on the contrary, this is a very good album, well structured with a fresh multitude of uniquely different songs, "Very Heepy Very Purple" is a pleasure to listen through, right to the end. And considering that Avi has released it himself and has made it available for free download, it just carries so much more feeling to it.
