Sun Of A Bitch

There seems to so many huge number of Hard Rock and Stoner Metal bands that are coming out every week, that it's hard to even remember the names, let alone the music. And sad part is that most of the bands, though bring out good music, have failed to do anything stand out. So here comes another Hard Rock band from Sweden in the name of CARNIVAL SUN, and what attracted me to 'Sun Of A Bitch' even before I listened to the music is the album name, hahaha, I bet ya!!
The album goes full on, right from the first song, and though the music itself is impressive, it invariably brings out comparisons with other Hard Rock bands like AIRBOURNE, AC/DC, and some newer bands like ON TOP, Hard Riot, Dirty Rockers, etc. Though there are a few innovative and unique riffs and as is with this kind of music, the songs are very catchy, free flowing, anthemic and impressive, sadly do nothing extraordinary and fail to stand out, and I am afraid they might just end up in the sea of Hard Rock bands. The vocals of Niklas Svensson are energetic and infectious and lyrics are catchy, and even the riffs are really good, occasionally bringing in slower parts like in "The hanged man" and making the sound more stylish, but the sad part as mentioned before is that there are too many bands who sound very similar and even better than CARNIVAL SUN. It's worth mentioning that "We've come to rock" is the most impressive track on the album with its anthemic feel and great guitar solos, but it comes too late in the album and doesn't manage to salvage the interest of the listener.
Interestingly this album actually was originally released on November 5th, 2011 and is still their only full length record and since then they have had 2 line-up changes too but no more releases, and this record is now being re-released by Heart Of Steel / Defox Records with better production. This 46:20 min record has some great amazing parts, sometimes even mind-blowing, but as a whole fails to bring something new to the table, but shows great promise for the future.
