Ethan Brosh - Live The Dream album cover

ETHAN BROSH is an acclaimed guitar player, mainly in the Hard Rock/Metal Scene, however I have never heard about him. Even though he was born in my home country, he did move to the US in 2001, so I will refer to him as an American guitar player for more biographical notes. I'm sure all of you can search the web. The album on hand "Live The Dream" is a solo album and I would indicate to all that we are talking about an instrumental album. I will have to say that I'm not a big fan of instrumental albums, I believe that the word is mightier than the guitar (sword), however I will not hold it against ETHAN BROSH.

Taking into consideration that I'm not a great guitar player, I can play the occasional riff or two, I can't give any opinion on the technical abilities of the ETHAN BROSH. As a guitar player I can only give my opinion on the musical weight of all the album as an all.

From the first track, the title album "Live the Dream" it's obvious that ETHAN BROSH is a shredder in the highest shredding degree, what I like to call a super shredder. It's also obvious that ETHAN BROSH was influenced by the sound of 80's guitar giants.

Like in any guitar instrumental album, there is a Classic/Spanish guitar segment and from ETHAN BROSH it's expected. All guitar players must show that he can master all forms of playing, in this album track "Suspicious Exchange" gives us the Spanish segment with also electric guitar soloing. Also can be found in this track is DAVE ELLEFSON. Well known for his work with MEGADETH, DAVE ELLEFSON is more noticeable in the next track "Rude Awakening" that starts with mighty bass playing.

All in all I enjoyed the album, maybe because I'm a fan of the 80's metal that can be felt in this album or just because it's good album. The best of the rest are "Forbidden Pleasure", massive riffing with great tempo, "Space Invaders" hell bending riffs like that best of the 80's metal followed with amazing melodic soloing. Clean Slate goes for the sound of a power ballad made amazing.

If you got any guitar instrumental albums at home, this is the best. If you like to listen to just music get this album.
