IRON MAIDEN, MOTORHEAD, JUDAS PRIEST, and there is SAXON! Leaders who led the history of Metal in the 80s. The leaders who gave Metal heads, a reason to live and listen to the purest form of New Wave Of British Heavy Metal. Formed in 1976, known as SON OF A BITCH, SAXON claimed its platform in the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal scenario and cherished their good old days of Heavy Metal. Influencing bands such as METALLICA and MEGADETH, they've established themselves as one of the most influential bands in Europe, US, and in their Mother Country, England.
With an uncertain future and replacement of bandmates, Saxon was on the verge of losing everything in their hands. It's obvious that replacement of bandmates does lead to loosing of fan base but only the true fans shall support SAXON no matter what. Europe nor UK never lost their faith and hope in SAXON. Despite everything, SAXON has successfully lead its way till the final destination of every Metal band, and that is WACKEN OPEN AIR. Saxon has successfully played there twice or more. Biff Byford's vocals or Paul Quinn's guitars cannot be forgotten. That powerful voice and that beautiful flow of guitars with those beats of New Wave of British Heavy Metal gives chill to your spine.
Releasing their live album "St. George's Day Sacrifice- Live in Manchester", Saxon sounds more alive. With the crowd cheering at the back and chanting their names like crazy Metal heads, shouting in top of their lungs and singing Saxon's lyrics makes it more thrilling like as if you are in the crowd. There is nothing like the good old hits and singles like "Rock n Roll Gypsy", "Ride like the wind", "wheel of Steel", "Princess of the Night", "Denim and Leather", "Conquistador", "I've Got To Rock to Stay Alive", "Never Surrender" and it keeps getting more thrilling than a highway ride with your HARLEY. So enchanting and powerful, the beauty of the origin of Heavy Metal is portrayed. It feels like you are in the 80s rather than 2014 era. The band especially Biff Bryford is one heck of front man and you cannot deny his interactions towards the crowd. Nigel Glockler, Paul Quinn and Nibbs Carter make the band more raw. Like Biff had said "My brief to the band was to be raw, be real and not be afraid to look back at the classic material for inspiration".
With the storming era of Heavy Metal till now, SAXON haven't let down any of us who are thirsty for New Wave Of British Heavy Metal. The sound which cannot be replaced by any bands or new sound of the era. With much heavier yet extremely raw, they had released "SACRIFICE" in 2013 through UDR records.
Paying tribute to the St. George and playing live in Manchester, Saxon have performed with tracks which were in billboard of UK charts in the 80s especially "Broken Heroes" for the dedication towards the British Army. New Wave of British Heavy Metal on all its way to fulfill the expectations of diehard fans of SAXON.
