Evenoire - Herons album cover

EVENOIRE is a female fronted Symphonic Metal / Progressive Metal band from Cremona, Italy. The band was formed in 2007 and released debut album "Vitriol" in 2012 and new album "Herons" will be available via Scarlet Records from 15th April 2014. Among the guests on this album is keyboardist and producer Riccardo Studer (STORMLORD, HOUR OF PENANCE), playing the piano Filippo Sasha Martignano (ECHOTIME) and singer Linnea Vikström (THERION), who sang in the track "Tears Of Medusa".

Right from the start I noticed the richness of the vocalist Lisy Stefanoni, she has the ability to correlate the power of her voice to apply calmness and mystery. She proves that in opening "Herons", where a moderate guitar riff along with a flute, that her singing style is no less in level than Tarja (ex-NIGHTWISH) or Sharon Den Adel (WITHIN TEMPTATION). "Love Enslaves" is my favourite track with a soothing keyboards opening, and right after a massive heavy riffing blended with the sound of the flute, I was electrified. This is a melodic track with a crushing guitar solo, modern elements al'a AMARANTHE, symphonic reverberations, choir and chunky riffs with an eye towards progression. EVENOIRE's music has that sense of charm. Just listen to "Drops of Amber", following symphonic elements perfectly aligned with another set of heavy riffing, tight rhythm section, diverse tempos and that wonderful voice in the front. "The Newborn Spring" has catchy power moments created with skill. There are also features of modern Metal utilizations with keyboards support that are high quality. "Aries" shows Gothic style of singing like in CLOSTERKELLER songs linking low tuned guitars and flute for a brilliant atmosphere. "Tears of Medusa" picked my interest quite fast, heavy Symphonic Metal tune with an impressive duet of Stefanoni and guest Linnéa Vikström, an outstanding choice of having Vikström participating. Worth to listen are also: "Seasons of Decay" grasping the epic NIGHTWISH style, "Wild Females" with Folk ricochets and "When the Sun Sets" recapping the wonders of this band's image.

"Herons" has magnificent power, energy and melody. The band's music tends to become a little out of the ordinary for their genre, sharing various of Metal direction in a single platter. No doubt that this is beyond your average Gothic Metal treatment, get a load of this one fast.
