"We're a Rock and Hard Rock band with a penchant for Gothic horror and more. With a pinch of parody and a smack of glam, we are, when all is said and done, overall, quite a theatrical thing."
This is what the band members had to say about their band, and tell you what: that's quite true. It was weird for me, listening to such a gloomy composition at first, but later on, it wasn't that bad. Being sure that this was some weird Gothic Rock band that has weird electrical vocals and a messy music to it, I was right. But they have something that other Gothic Rock bands don't. JOKERBATS draws influence from traditional Metal bands such as METALLICA and BLACK SABBATH, and from theatrical bands such as LORDI and NIGHTWISH. Having that in mind, this "weird electric Gothic Rick thingy" does not fail to disappoint. Well, at least not much.
Consisting of two members, JOKERBATS manage to deliver a truckload of Gothic macabre and horror and much more Gothic stuff in a single song that it's simply...astonishing. For some reason, while listening this track a few times, all I had in mind was the cartoon "Batman Beyond" which, as I remember had and OST that had a similar ring to JOKERBATS song, "Vampire".
That all being said, the band JOKERBATS definitely isn't for everybody. It is a masterpiece for the people who understand and like such things, but to all others, it's a weird song that they wouldn't listen to. Myself, I didn't like it at first, but I gave it another shot, so, I kind of liked it. JOKERBATS is an interesting band, with an imaginative and interesting concept, and as such, they bring a new, fresh feeling to the massive world of Rock and Metal music.
