Hooded Menace - Labyrinth Of Carrion Breeze album cover

Finnish band HOODED MENACE brings a more haunting feel to the plate with "Labyrinth of Carrion Breeze". The Doom / Death Metal band decided to use inspiration from the 70's horror film, "Cry of the Banshee". The opening track, "Chasm of the Wraith", is started with an audio clip from the movie in which Lord Edward Whitman is cursed by Satan, along with his family and house. After this the sound is very calm, with low tones that some could find relaxing. After a short amount of time, low growls come in and combine with an extremely slow drumming style (almost painfully slow) and rumbling bass as well as forceful guitar riffs. Hooded Menace brings something new to this style, but I haven't discovered what exactly it is yet.

The second track, "The Creeping Flesh," has an even more malicious, ominous and dark sound. The title describes the song perfectly. After listening to this eighteen minute album, I have to come to the conclusion that I have a new band added to my top ten. 2014 might be the year for HOODED MENACE.
