The Treatment - Running With The Dogs album cover

THE TREATMENT is a five piece Hard Rock outfit hailing from the Cambridge area of the United Kingdom, forming in 2008 as 15-18 year olds and hungry for appreciation and attention at a time when we need newcomers to push the movement of heavy music forward. Their debut album "This Might Hurt" came out in 2011, setting the foundation for this follow up full length "Running with the Dogs".

The proliferation of music at every turn has pushed 'classic Rock bands now to a third generation, with many large advertisers and businesses using material from JUDAS PRIEST to RUSH to TWISTED SISTER to peddle an era and lifestyle that transcends time. THE TREATMENT spit out their own version of classic Hard Rock, updating things through a touch of Punk and Sleaze to keep the energy level abuzz.

"I Bleed Rock + Roll" opens the proceedings, a party anthem paying tribute to the genre they love, guitarists Jake Pattinson and Tagore Grey layering their retro-oriented power chords with a sense of punk charm. THE CULT as well as AC/DC would be proud of the offspring and professionalism these lads display. Elsewhere "Drop Like a Stone" and "Emergency" appeal as future set staples, the hooks as large as they can muster musically while the harmonic chorus work from Matt Jones is in the vein of DEF LEPPARD circa the "High 'n' Dry" days.

The 13 songs fly by in a tidy 47 minutes, as only two tracks barely clip beyond 4 minutes. When the band choose to be more subdued and tuneful, you see them reach back into possible 60's and early 70's heroes like BAD COMPANY or LYNYRD SKYNYRD for the half acoustic/ half electric ballad "Cloud Across the Sun". For such a young band, THE TREATMENT surprisingly are very skillful in the art of balancing simplified 3 chord Hard Rock and keeping the tempos dynamically different so that you anticipate the next track- especially when the band produce sinister wah-wah lead breaks in the darker "Don't Get Mad Get Evil".

"Running with the Dogs" doesn't profess to change the template of the Hard Rock genre- it only uses the right tools in the right way to deliver a series of strong songs that should get audiences stomping their feet and clapping their hands.
