Days Of The Fallen Sun

JUNIUS is a Metal band in the old sense of what it meant to be a Metal band back in the days when most of the popular Rock radio songs that were played were called "Alternative music". I would definitely consider JUNIUS to be an Alternative Metal band but only in the true definition of the word alternative, meaning non-traditional or unconventional. JUNIUS never set with this EP to meet conventions in Contemporary Rock music.
There are about a dozen bands I can compare JUNIUS but all of them sound nothing at all like JUNIUS. You can certainly hear lots of New Wave, Post-Rock, Post-Punk and Post-Hardcore influences but simultaneously, you will recognize examples of Gothic Rock and the Sludge-ier areas of Doom Metal.
"Days of the Fallen Sun" is the second release from JUNIUS that was produced and engineered by Will Benoit at his notorious The Radar Studio, an eco-friendly recording studio and production facility in Clinton, Connecticut that is powered 100% by solar energy. I think you can actually hear that sunlight coming out of the music itself like audible radiation. Their last album "Reports From the Threshold of Death" came out of this facility as well but I think JUNIUS certainly took the power that runs the studio in which they perform and record this to heart when conceptualizing the four songs on this EP.
I think 'Days of the Fallen Sun' is one of those EPs that almost everybody will find something to enjoy. I particularly liked the soothing vocals of Joseph E. Martinez. His vocals soar above the music and remind me of some Modern Alternative band that I can't exactly put my finger on. This EP really shines brightly and hopefully bright enough to stay in your memory for the remainder of the year.
