Condor - Nadia album cover

Ever seen one of those horror movies where the weird looking aliens or animals growl the fuck out of themselves to scare the human characters in the movie and more so the audience of the movie. This album by CONDOR gives you similar feelings, except that it's darker and heavier with the music as you would imagine. It's not just another Death / Doom album, but this one does bring in a different flavor and variety to this amazing genre.

The thick crunchy guitar riffs aren't monotonous unlike mostly found with this genre and has influences of bands like BLACK SABBATH written all over them. The songs move like a slow crocodile wanting to consume you into its filthy dark world. The album has some really good groovy riffs, enough to make your heads banging. Some songs are occasionally energetic, and I was quite surprised to find acoustic pieces in most of the songs. The album has such beautiful catchy riffs that even an small instrumental number "Ëowyn" doesn't bore you out and will make you air guitar to its beautiful melodies. During the course of the album, you will realize that, you don't need to be flamboyant and flashy to make an album work, it's just needs to have a good tasty formula, and "Nadia" surely has that. The growling vocals are low pitched and typical of most Death / Doom bands, but still the vocals here doesn't bore me out or sound mundane.

Some songs like the last one "El Roble Será Mi Trono Eterno" have double vocals, and both of them growling at the same time which adds to the intensity. The song names and some of the lyrics here are not entirely in English, but they do have lyrics touching on philosophical and nationalistic subjects and something not easy to comprehend the first time you listen to this album

This album is not for first time listeners of Doom / Death and demands a certain degree of maturity on the part of listener. The album travels on the tried and tested lines of Death / Doom, still offering something new to the fans of this genre. I just hope they stay strong to their roots and continue to improve their sound and take their time before bringing out another full length album.

It's a decent album with an average production for a self-made debut album and also considering the fact that the band was formed only last year in 2013.Though some might argue that they should have spent more time polishing their riffs and production, it's still an album worth your 43 and a half minutes. The major problem I have with this album is that, I find that the album was officially released on 9th August 2013, and has gone unnoticed in the doom metal circles, so I just hope that before they release their next one, they do a bit of promotion and marketing to be heard and not just complete the formalities. Keep it coming guys!!
