Hypnotic Affliction

Hailing from the small town of Hampton Falls in the small state of New Hampshire USA, EXCRECOR has a big sound, power, and everything you could possibly crave from a Melodic Death Metal band.
They say that they combine Scandinavian and Progressive Death Metal with deep atmospheric elements to create their unique sound and from what I heard I would agree with that statement. The growls and screams of Jeff DeMarco along with his exceptional work on guitars along with Ehren Hill form quite a vicious dual-threat axe attack with some great work by drummer Greg Murphy and bassist Mark Rzeszutek.
I wouldn't say they are breaking any new untouched ground, but what they do, they do it as well as anyone in the genre. Volume, power, and maybe a slight look into the darkness to make sure no vampires are hidden nearby and these guys thrust the listener into an abyss of furious sounds.
The band does create their best on the albums last two tracks as they experiment with acoustics, sound effects, melody, and perhaps these two are where the bands pure potential shows itself. Undeniably hard to not listen to those two tunes and my hope in pointing them out is to get listeners and readers to be sure to go listen to them. The band has everything going for them as far as the genre and can play with anyone, but those last two tracks shined a new light on just what they are capable of.
