The first album of the band ARCHITECT OF SETH was conceived under the name "The Persistence Of Scars". The project is originally a One Man Band that consists in the person of Paul Rousseaux, but after two demos Yohann Kochel joined the project as a second guitarist.

If you're a fan of Technical Death Metal, you will find pleasure in listening to this album. Fan of NECROPHAGIST or ATHEIST, you are going to spend moments of brutality and musical virtuosity with ARCHITECT OF SETH. And its starts with "LFDY", a song that was for the first 48 seconds a surprise, with the use of an acoustic guitar, thing that is not deem in a Death Metal band. This first piece is getting up to speed and to immerse the listener in the true musical style of the band. This style that is showcased in "Persistence Of Scars" is not accessible to everyone, especially for those who are used to a more direct music.

The two musicians have no hesitation in playing hundreds of notes per minute, which makes the deciphering of these phrases unattainable. Try to listen to "Engender Of Confusion" or "Astral Transhumence" for example. Paul Rousseaux's voice is very dynamic with variations between severe growls and some cries. The technical mastery of the instruments is noteworthy, something that I remarked especially after listening to "Hybrid Consuming Flesh" a song that confirms the originality of this opus. One grip for me is the disorder of some passages that makes the listener forget where he is exactly.

With complexity of arrangements that exceeds the human capabilities, we sometimes cannot remember the songs from the beginning to the end. But this band knows very well how to put  variations to the songs, "Empty Tears Of Sadness" and "Teachers Of Nocturna" are two tracks that highlights more the melodic side with riffs more or less direct. The production is excellent and it allows you to analyze all the instruments except the bass which is practically absent in the mix.

Despite its brutal aspect, this album remains on the borders of a Brutal Death Metal like CANNIBAL CORPSE for example. The volume of playing generated is huge which puts this band with its first album as the discovery of the year.
