Donnie Barren is the name of the American guitarist who also goes by Donnie Barren Holtzinger. His new album that just came out is called "Freedom", and it contains a set of very well done instrumental pieces.
For fans of music research and virtuosity on guitar, this album is well placed. If you're a fan of Joe Satriani or Steve Vai, you've got to take a look on this musical product. From the first song "Missing Opportunity", the melodies take a relaxing pace. Variation is present with phrases that alternate between technicality and simplicity. "Open Road" is a more aggressive song with a very present guitar on the rhythm and lead parts. Starting with the song "Rocking Chair" the album takes a quieter turn with ballads that mark the use of acoustic guitar for a smooth effect. "Rainy Sunday" comes with more direct sounds before giving way to a melodic and atmospheric journey called "Family". This instrumental bouquet ends with "Greensleeves (What Child Is This)", always with the same spirit and the same determination to make good music. The production of this album was excellent and very homogeneous for an interesting result.
Donnie Barren is a known name, it is not someone new in the world of music, he was active in the music scene in Los Angles (Now Seattle), but if you don't know him this is the opportunity with his new album.
