The German / American Hard Rock group EZ LIVIN' is just about to release its new album "Firestorm" coming this February 28th via LZ Records / Sony Music. The band was formed in 1991 by BONFIRE guitarist Hans Ziller, who returns with former ACCEPT and BANGALORE CHOIR's singer David Reece on the microphone. The new album was mixed and mastered by Alessandro Del Vecchio (HARDLINE). In the lineup there is Harry Reischmann, who's known as drummer of Ziller's BONFIRE, Ronnie Parkes (TANGO DOWN / SEVEN WITCHES) on bass, Paul Morris (RAINBOW) on keyboards, piano & organ and of course, already mentioned but should be again, former ACCEPT frontman David Reece (BANGALORE CHOIR). Chris Lyne (MOTHER ROAD / ex-SOUL DOCTOR) serves as guest on guitars.
"Loaded Gun" drew me right from the beginning, a melodic song, earlier from the past of BANGALORE CHOIR, a tandem of rocking riffs, great rhythmic section and a climate that might resemble WHITESNAKE, get ready for your ass to be kicked hard. I was emblazoned by the URIAH HEEP cover of "Easy Living", a true golden classic, providing this number a Heavy Metal thunder. Also memorable is "The Damage Is Done" journeying with low end riffs and an 80's backbone, blazing catchy melodic chorus and surely one of the best guitar solos I have heard in a while. "That's How He Rocks" prolongs the 80's pattern further, this is a combination of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal, a wicked piece with fine riffs, strong vocal line, whittling between SAXON and BONFIRE. "Let's Fly Away" takes a small vacation from the 80's hard hitting gravity, initiating a melodic soft ballad with lead fretwork to perfection. "Into The Night" puts the Metal to the table, traditional mood at its best performance, powerful rhythm section that is a feast for sore ears. Same goes with "Too Late" bursting with heavy riffery, supported by Hammond organs. "White Lightning" surfaces the nomadic DIO, yet with a nostalgic reckoning of old JUDAS PRIEST.
"Firestorm" is in a very good position for Hard Rock / Heavy Metal cravers. This is a mega packed musician frenzy, veteran guys showing their worth with tremendous skills. I really enjoyed during my listening sessions. Highly recommended. For Greek fans the album will be released by Sleaszy Rider Records.
