French Stoner Metal.... Yeah, you read that one right, To be fair, France has been good to the Metal scene in recent years, just look at bands like NIGHTMARE, GOJIRA and HEAVENLY. However despite this being DRAWERS' second full length album, I have yet to hear of them, If I'm totally honest, the whole Sludge / Stoner Metal attempt didn't really pinch me.

However, there is nothing better than giving something new a try, and from the opening track "Once and For All", it's obvious that these French gentlemen know what they're doing, opening with a groovy riff. "Mourning" is surprisingly melodic despite its heaviness and noise, Then again the genre was never known for its pure melodies. "Take Stock" offers a slight change of pace being somewhat slower and utilizing clean vocals, which also shows a bit more potential from the band. The album itself is a well-crafted and professional affair, staying well within the confines of the band's chosen genre, it's certainly enough to get a passing grade, but not enough to generate too much interest from yours truly apart from the already mentioned track "Take Stock". There's a lot of talent in this band, and it's demonstrated here, however the record lacks originality.

Die-hard fans of the Sludge / Stoner genre will love this record, but for others, there's not much to sink your teeth into.
