WAR DEVICE brings us Thrash Metal from northern Greece, with bite and fury not always seen on the modern scene. With their new album "Whisper Of Souls" the band brings us 10 tracks of furious dark Thrash Metal.

"Abandoned" Hope builds up a dark and evil atmosphere before heading into an old school late 80s style Thrash groove. This instrumental track is led by heavy guitars, and a rhythm section reminiscent of the heavier SLAYER material. Title Track "Whisper Of Souls" sets things into motion properly, with more heavy riffs supporting the barking vocals of Makis Arampatzis. There's plenty of riffs in this one track alone, and the rest of the album lives up to the standard set by this song, which although fairly mid tempo for a thrash song, is plenty heavy.

"Shattering My Thoughts" is a noteworthy track on the album, with stabbing riffs that lead to a full on Thrash assault and later on a nice clean interlude before a really heavy held chord section moves the song forward once more.

From the faster tracks such as "Rehab Beyond Perfection" and "Mind In Panic" with their hectic stop-start riffs and an almost old-school SEPULTURA vocal delivery, to more mid tempo Thrash grooves like "Rain", the band have lots to offer fans of Thrash Metal, with their almost unrelenting heavy riffs and a very vicious vocal style, this should please fans of the genre.

The album closes with "Unknown Path", which opens to the sound of warfare and introduces clean guitar parts into the track, finishing the album with a melodic instrumental that later turns a bit heavier.

The production is great as far as modern Thrash Metal is concerned, plenty of heaviness to the guitars, pounding drums supported by deep bass guitar and a vocal mixed well over the top with a very heavy Thrash sound to it.

This is a great Thrash album and should set the band apart from the crowd, with loads of riffs and plenty of technicality making this a very heavy album!
