Once, back in the early 90's, TIGERTAILZ was a dangerous gang, an enigmatic band, an audacious bunch of peroxided Glamsters, an intrepid live act, they were at the edge of their style with almost a nihilistic attitude and a very interesting implication in their subversive thematic, back then I was truly impressed by their Glamour savagery and their sleazy attitude. Since then they are running after the success of their milestone "Bezerk" published in 1990, the band was at its musical climax and reached the peak of their popularity, and TIGERTAILZ remains for many a real cult band with many turmoils throughout their career, a lot of line up skipping, wrong biz decisions and even some dramatic moments (R.I.P. Pepsi Tate).
This new TIGERTAILZ incarnation isn't dangerous anymore or even revolutionary but the music played by the Cardiff's band is still fun and enjoyable, and they can still teach a thing or two to a lot of actual Sleaze Metal formation, they can kick the ass of many so-called rebel (read CRASHDÏET) and show them how to write a sing-along chorus ("The Shoe Collector") without sounding cheesy or stupid or both (read RECKLESS LOVE). The power ballad "One Life" is efficient and reveal a still strong sense of Melodious arrangements in the real 80's fashion, the "Spit It Out" / "Don't Bite the Hands That Feeds You" riffage recall their more Rock N' Roll roots with some up dated guitars and a very direct gang vocals hook.
Their new ability in playing some heavy riffs easily with a real metallic background ("Punched in the Gutz") is refreshing because, they still manage to provide a good dose of extremely infectious, nasty & sleazy backing vocals in the refrain, finally this closing track is the most convincing of the five cuts that composing this EP, unmistakably a future, classic stage anthem and a good sign for the future to come.
*There will be a special release for the album via Sleaszy Rider Records for Greece.
