With members of different bands such as Craig Smilowski (ex-IMMOLATION) and Cazz Grant (CRUCIFIER), the American band MASADA issued their first EP in 2011. But they have experienced changes in the line-up with the departure of Smilowski and bassist Matt Dwyer. The band has not been weakened by the departure of a few members, and they attacked their second EP "Hideous Rot" just released.

A very raw sound, this is what I can say after listening to the five tracks. The kind of the Death Metal presented in this EP is based on the principle of making the listener go back in the late 80s, as the old bands of the genre. They had the opportunity to make further with top quality production, but the choice was left that sound raw, dirty and original. The pieces are very well composed ​​with personalized ways of arrangement and unusual structures. A good dose of brutality and technicality is also behind most of the riffs. I loved the dark atmosphere, and it is in "Hideous Cerebral Pulp" or "Exit to Rot" I found all that is mentioned above.

The song "Suffer Mental Decay" is slower with a strange melody part at the end. "Toxic Unreality" sounds ruder again. But back to the second track of the EP. "Fluteotherapie", which is a kind of an instrumental piece, performed with a flute, with the sound of someone breathing or something like that. I did not really like it because it was relatively long but maybe there is a certain message behind this mysterious track.

I expect that the band members spends more time to compose the next album, it must be without doubt one of the bands that can cause much reaction in the world of Metal.
