The Jokers

"Rock & Roll is Alive" by THE JOKERS will be released on 2nd September at SPV/Steamhammer, and it's already the album N°2 for this hard touring bunch of veterans from Liverpool. A band that play an oblivious vintage mix of Blues Rock and Raw 70s Rock, somewhere between LED ZEPPELIN, FREE & THE WHO, quite a popular blend in the new classic Rock, old school and retro trend, so their sound is not really far from RIVAL SONS / THE ANSWER or the very impressive SCORPION CHILD. Anyway it's a fine and enjoyable, down to earth album made by Rock N' Roll experts for an experienced audience.
The singer, Wayne Perry, possess an high pitched tone and a good technique and the musicians involved are more than decent, the production is perfectly crafted, enough organic yet quite dynamic and clear.
Frankly I was surprised that the music offered by THE JOKERS was so genuine and unadulterated, it was something unexpected in their sonic purity and their sheer sincerity is quite manifest, their melodic nature is so specific and they are very honest in the attitude, the sole problem here, is that we heard this many, many times before and this is the only valid criticism I can give, seriously it's not really a default but the fact is here, in this overcrowded genre the redundancy is more frequent than the originality, but yet I'm pretty sure that a lot of connoisseurs will praise that album better than me.
