Code666 Records has always released special and talented extreme Metal bands, and every season they surprised the Metal scene with excellent releases, and here is Code666 is presenting the second full-length album "The Immoral Compass" for the British Metal band EIBON LA FURIES. When it comes to describe the musical style of this band, I have to say that it's pretty confusing, because the music is combining the elements of Avant-Garde Black Metal and ambient touches, with some fragments of classical influences.
EIBON LA FURIES has a lot of influences and feelings, from the Avant-Garde moments and to the Progressive Black Metal moments, with complex drumming sections and sophisticated compositions. A lot of bands will cross your mind while listening to this record, and groups like EMPEROR and ARCTURUS will be painted on your imagination while listening to the tracks of this record. There are a lot of reasons for every extreme Metal fan to like the music of this record, especially for the fans of ARCTURUS and VULTURE INDUSTRIES, because the mixture of these tracks are too spicy, which makes every track and riff catchy and memorable for the worshippers of complex Metal genres. The main difference between a normal metal band with a specific genre and the metal band with the combination of genres is the inspiration and the musical influences, and I can see clearly that the deep inspiration of the members have helped them to sum up a lot of colors and unite them together to form a whole new color with an original essence.
Every riff hits your face will leave a trace, and the harmonies and the crispiness of the vocals will slash your features in every track, leaving you a disfigured corpse. My favorite tracks in this record are "Flames 1918" and "An Enigma in Space and Time" and "Astronomy In Absences", because the members have cared to leave the total compositions memorable and to keep the performance on its highest level. The ambient passages and the ethereal unworldly atmosphere also helped the music of the band to be more convincing and it helped to prepare the listeners mentally for such a complex riffing. The drumming is so respectful and the solos are killer, the vocals are powerful and full of energy. The band has used many clean guitar sections and varied drumming patterns to remove the repetition, and the result was special and insane. The symbolic artwork with its simple black and white colors is very good; the symbolism fits the music of this record very much.
Frontman Lord Eibon Blackwood (vocalist and guitarist) commented on the album: "Worship no one, bow to none. No gods exist here. You are your own compass (moral, amoral or immoral). The balance of greatness can be tipped either way. Ascending through darkness is our only way", these words describe the lyrical theme behind this unworldly music, and a lot of listeners will enjoy this kind of lyrics for sure, and personally it's my favorite type of lyrics". My favorite moments in this album were the solos, somehow they are so glimmering and blinding, and the production gave the lead guitar sections enough concern, which makes them sound surrounding and firm. "The Immoral Compass" is something sacramental, something that came from nowhere.
In the end, I think this album will not be an easy meal to swallow, especially if you're not expecting a professional mixture of musical genres, the fatal taste of this record is poisoned, and your ears will get addicted to the tracks easily, every track will slit your veins like a razor while listening and swallowing the album, there will be a lot of gloom and mysteriousness.
