Dead Rising
Church Of Void

The self-proclaimed spearheads of the New Wave of Traditional Heavy Doom Metal were formed in 2010 in Finland, but that doesn't mean that they are newcomers in the world of music, as some members of this group have been in Symphonic Metal band BATTLELORE and Black Metal band HORNA. Fresh from releasing their EP "Winter is Coming" last year, now in 2013 they release their debut album titled "Dead Rising".
"Dead Rising" starts with the punk-sounding song "Tristess" that is probably my least favorite in the album and if I could take one song out of this record it would be this one, luckily it gets better as the next song begins, "Son of a Witch" should have been the first track. My favorite songs would have to be the title-track for its slow acoustic intro with some violins playing on the background and "Entity of Kalypso" with its riff that help paint the image of the chant of the sea-nymph Kalypso as she lures us to drown us.
The question that comes to mind when reviewing this album is: "Are they really deserving of the title of spearheads of this movement?" the answer would probably be no, there are other bands out there who are more deserving of this title but that doesn't mean that CHURCH OF VOID isn't a band worth paying attention to as they have proved with its record that they are a band with the right abilities and the creativity to release pretty decent songs.
