SOULBOUND is a German band, based in Bielefeld, playing the likes of melodic, modern Metal. "Towards The Sun", released in the final quarter of 2012, is the result of a three year undertaking since the band's formation back in 2009.

"Halloween" is a memory chip, a sticker, passionately crafted and written, fantastic guitars played by Felix & Patrick with grips on melody. The riffing is mostly inspired by Heavy (IRON MAIDEN / LORDI) and Death Metal (IN FLAMES), especially sound wise when it comes to the guitars or bass. I like the change of pace, along with the attitudes. The soloing is pretty good, a killer addition no doubt. I also enjoyed the unison of clean and growl vocals, well mixed and that goes for the entire album as well. The drumming expressed GODSMACK, SLIPKNOT and DISTURBED, nicely tight. The chorus is a chip of brilliance, greatly executed. "Broken Pieces" reminded me of SOULFLY and PANTERA tunes with low tuned guitars and a skilled extreme duo vocal effort. "Towards The Sun" has that guitar edge of METALLICA but also with additional riffing that might inflict TOOL. Not to be called progressive, but SOULBOUND displayed diversity within their techniques. Melody mixed with brutality, hypnotizing music, a totally addictive song. However, truth be told that it didn't end up with majority of the tracks.

"Towards The Sun" can be regarded as a good debut outcome. Both fans of modern extremity along with melodic Metal fans should tune this one. SOULBOUND attempts to be fresh and steadfast with their music. They prove that a melodic edge can be created for an type of Metal music, and in great form.
