ABBINORMAL were formed in 2017 and they are from Milan, Italy. They play a mixture of Death Metal and Grindcore. The band released their third full-length album. "Italia's Gore Talent" was recorded at Toxic Basement Studios and it has a length of about 30 minutes. The album was released via Italian Heavy, Thrash, and Power Metal specialists Ad Noctem Records. The album starts powerful and frantic with "Inverted Karma". It is a fast track with devastating guitar riffs, crushing basslines, and plenty of blast-beats. The vocals are growls and they vary between the deeper to medium end of the guttural range. While the verse/chorus parts have a lot of pace, the break slows a bit down; it is a head-banger with plenty of SLAYER vibes in it. "Third Man Syndrome" starts at a measured tempo and a sluggish rhythm to introduce the track. It does not take long, and an abrupt switch kicks-in with the verse part blistering fast. There is a lot of chaos around the verses, while the chorus part goes back to the rhythm from the start. The guitar riffing is direct, aggressive, but also playful.

"Violencia" is a 90-seconds aggressive fast hammering in best Grindcore manner, where even is time left for a breakdown in the middle of the pummeling. While "Violencia" was one of the shorter tracks, "Boomer" is quite the opposite and one of the rare tracks with more than three minutes. It is more a traditional Death Metal track with direct and aggressive guitar riffs and a few twists and turns in tempo and rhythm. During the final chorus, there is another breakdown with thunderous guitar riffing for an almost anthemic chorus line. "Inevitable Overpopulation" is introduced by the melodic main riff of the track, accompanied by a disharmonic piano sequence. All that comes to an end quickly and transitions into another aggressive hammering with punishing guitar riffs at crazy pace during the verse parts. The guitar riffing has a few Hardcore vibes. There is a short twist in tempo in between, however, after a second cycle, the track comes to an end with the initial melody and the piano. "Hippopotamus" starts with very direct and aggressive guitar riffs. The track is mainly a fast one with a few abrupt mid-tempo twists in it. At the end of the track, the main riff breaks down to a measured tempo at a head-banging rhythm. "Hippopotamus" is the official video release, and the YouTube link is provided below.

"Acid/Disease" is introduced by the keyboards and powerful guitar riffs at a measured tempo. It is a melodic beginning of the track, and the clean vocals for the chorus are provided by Cosimo Cinieri (DI'AUL). The track transitions into another brutal hammering with tight guitar riffs and the growls. It is a kind of stop and go as the track permanently switches between the pummeling verse parts and the melodic and groovy chorus parts. "Acid/Disease" is one of the album highlights. "Web Scum" is introduced by the piano, leading into verse part at insane pace. The guitar riffing is devastating, direct, and aggressive. The basslines are crunching. While the verse parts are fast, the choruses and the short break slow down to mid-tempo with powerful guitar riffs. "Less Than Zero" starts as a mid-tempo track with direct guitar riffs, accompanied by plenty of double-bass drumming and the keyboards for the verse part. The chorus part slows down to a measured tempo, while the guitar riffing includes a few grooves. During the second half of the track, a bit more chaos is introduced by abrupt tempo and rhythm switches. At the end of the track there is a huge breakdown to conclude the track. "Goat Save The Dirt" starts at a measured tempo with tight guitar riffs and grim melodies for the verse part. There are a few subtle changes in tempo throughout the track, while the chorus line is supported by a few blast-beats. Apart from that, the track is mainly a double-bass supported head-banger.

The head-banging sound continues with "Stop!" at least during the first part of the track. Then, it all becomes a bit frantic with the blast-beats and the double-bass kicking in. The guitar riffing offers more technicality, a bit more atmosphere, and it has a bit of a progressive touch. "Rotting Blues" is a funny 40-seconds inter-lude as it is a kind of Grindcore Blues. The album finishes with "The Lonely Funeral" and it starts with a short and spine-chilling introduction, leading into the main guitar riff. Finally, the track converts into a fast, blast-beat driven pummeling. However, the grim melodic framework is maintained during every note of the track. While the verse parts are played at crazy pace, the choruses slow down to mid-tempo. Altogether, "The Lonely Funeral" provides a fitting end to the album. ABBINORMAL deliver a promising full-length album. "Italia's Gore Talent" is a modern Grindcore album with a few touchpoints at neighboring genres. Most tracks are very versatile, ranging from brutal hammering to groovier and slower tracks. The album is well produced. What I like about the album is that ABBINORMAL do not take it too seriously, there is always room for a couple of funnier songs. Grindcore fans will certainly like what they hear on "Italia's Gore Talent".
