Towers

The Machinist

As far as I’m concerned there aren’t enough Industrial bands that are different enough and interesting enough to be a proper addition to the classic names we all know. Well, after listening to “Towers” I have no other option then to add THE MACHINIST to the list of bands in the Industrial genre that I need to keep an eye on.

I have stated many times that I like my Industrial Metal and Rock. It might be mellow, it's allowed to be loud, I don't mind if it's chaotic, as long as the songs have structure. That doesn't always happen, but when it does, I am as happy as a pig in mud (or is it shit?). well, let me tell you that THE MACHINIST, an Industrial/Death/Black Metal band from Manchester is giving me exactly what I crave. In the six years of their existence I have never encountered them before now, and to say that they have given me a good wake-up call is very much an understatement. Having been around since 2020, they have already released two studio albums, "I Am Void" in 2020 and "Contempt For Life" in 2025. On April 7th 2026 they had another slab of pure filth to dissect in the form of the EP "Towers".

"Towers" houses three very versatile and explosive songs that will have you on the edge of your seat for over 24 minutes, so you should be warned to expect that these aren't your straight forward tunes coming through your speakers. Well, THE MACHINIST doesn't disappoint, as the balance between mainly Industrial and Black Metal is just right, aided by having bits and pieces that reek of Death Metal thrown in when either needed, necessary, but in either case, fitting. I like the intense feeling that "Towers" is giving me, as it is enclosing on you and very imposing, but it never makes you feel too claustrophobic. On the contrary, you simply start craving the attention you're getting, the closeness of the room you're in and the addictive nature of the music on offer.

The songs on "Towers" are not only very diverse; they are also all three of a very high standard. To me, they are mint, and that is putting it lightly. THE MACHINIST might be new for me, but they have succeeded in throwing a spanner into my brains, making them dishevelled and scrambled, but in a way that is putting a massive smile on my face. As far as I'm concerned there aren't enough Industrial bands that are different enough and interesting enough to be a proper addition to the classic names we all know. Well, after listening to "Towers" I have no other option then to add THE MACHINIST to the list of bands in the Industrial genre that I need to keep an eye on.
