At The Mercy Of The Merciless
Anti-Sapien

The first time that ANTI-SAPIEN let us know they existed is when they released their 2021 Demo "Those Who Know Nothing". That only emphasises the fact the no-one is able to tell me when these guys actually started out under this name. Then, in 2023, they surprised the world with their debut album "Calculating Obsolescence". Not that I have experienced any of those two achievements, but hey, they have taken place. This actually is the first time I ever heard of ANTI-SAPIEN, and it only is because I got sent their latest effort, the EP "At The Mercy Of The Merciless", which was originally released as an independent one on 16 January 2026. Now the record company Terminus Hate City has taken an interest and hopefully that will give the band an exposure to a wider audience.
In 21 minutes plus the six songs are on offer, you will be sure get ANTI-SAPIEN to throw their own brand of Death Metal combined with a bit of Grindcore out of their instruments and into your atmosphere. And although this usually isn't exactly my cup of tea, I can only tell you that somehow "At The Mercy Of The Merciless" has reached me in a better way than I expected. In other words, what I experience here has exceeded my expectations. What ANTI-SAPIEN is to put the right kind of emotions into the musical mix. It's not just making noise, but also ensuring that your feelings are reached. That ensures that the noise these guys are able to make does give you the sensations you didn't think you'd get. It also creates an atmosphere that is a lot more assessable than though possible.
The fact of the matter is that I will never be a massive Death Metal fan, plus I'll always steer clear of anything Grindcore related, but somehow listening to ANTI-SAPIEN on "At The Mercy Of The Merciless" has found a way to surpass my reservations and draw me in with ease. I'm not going to tell you that this is earth-shattering good music, but I will give you the satisfaction of relaying to you that I feel that ANTI-SAPIEN has something undefinable that does make them stand out when it matters. And if I ever get the chance to see them perform live, I certainly will not shy away from it. I therefore declare "At The Mercy Of The Merciless" a good EP by ANTI-SAPIEN.
