Burning Path
Burning Path
Burning Path is a duo who were formed out of tragedy. They are a continuation of Chile's beloved heavy metal heroes Lucifer's Hammer. In late December 2024 founding of Lucifer's Hammer Andre Adasme (AKA Hades) was murdered by a complete stranger.Rodrigo (Titan) his brother had a very difficult task ahead, but eventually he decided to keep his brother's legacy alive, along with Hypnos, Burning Path was (re) born. The decision was made to retire Lucifer's Hammer's moniker as nobody could replace his brothers character & leading role who will be forever the signature of Lucifer's Hammer music,However Burning Path's direction will continue with the same traditional heavy metal they played with LH in the previous 13 years.
This (re) birth begins "The Imminent Passage Of Time" which is an instrumental offering that builds the suspense, the guitar solo builds the anticipation very well indeed to kick off "Chasing The Future" , a track which is fast paced & energised from the opening chord to the final note, the melody chugs along in a strong fashion, the chorus is punchy too,a great heavy metal style track which kicks off this s/t record in style."Another Day" is another headbanging, full throttle metal assault, the drums are hard hitting, the bass is deep, prominent and the guitars make the track sound solid, the sound is very much an old school affair. The tempo & pace drops to a slower pace to start with on "Take Me High",however this is short lived. One thing i have noticed about this album is the production, its far from polished or have bells and whistles,it sounds like old school production, which only goes to make this album more authentic and raw."The God Dwells In The Sword" has a howling wind, with what sounds like soldiers marching to lead in this epic track which has a cinematic feel, which draws you in as it is more of an operatic rock track with a story.
Next up is a classic headbanging, devil horns in the air track "A Step Far Beyond" is another simplistic, but effective track which will please the metal masses, vocally Titan hits some really high notes in sections of the song, which make me think of the legend Rob Halford, immense hard hitting drums, with some Maiden style riffs, solos & melody. The penultimate track "When Darkness Falls" has a more melodic metal feel, with some key touches, strong guitar riffs, i feel im going back to 1985 and i get Dokken vibes,The album concludes with a track of over 7 minutes long "The Darkness That Will Last" is another classy, epic metal track which is another high energized offering which motors along in true metal style! This self-titled album will be loved by Lucifer's Hammer fans, who will embrace this (re) birth. This album will no doubt also welcome new fans too (i will be one of them!).It's a very solid album, which is full of nostalgic sounding metal from beginning to end with some raw old style production which make the album sound even more authentic.Titan & Hypnos have created this new chapter in memory of Hades, and on the basis of this debut album, they can only go on from strength to strength
