Scorcher - Armageddon From The Sky album cover

Someone once asked me why my album reviews have always been so positive. I answered that if you don't have something nice to say, you would better shut your stinky big mouth, and it applies to myself as well. In fact, I have been lucky enough to choose what will be the albums that I will work on, sometimes I'll take this task like a sacred mission, sometimes I feel that the band deserve some more attention etc. I always try to translate my passion for Metal music into words, which isn't effortless. Nevertheless, this time, I trusted someone else for that one. I was wrong. Hey, no hard feelings.

So, I will make things differently. I will make it short. This album is nothing special. Nor good or bad, just plain ordinary in my humble opinion. This is the worst word, which can be inspired by an Epic Power Metal album. This recording is a one man only affair. Good performances by Tex, but maybe some external input could have been beneficial mostly of a singer and a producer.

Only the very GAMMA RAY influenced "Armageddon From The Sky" is a little superior than average, but the lyrical content of the album doesn't help, the glorious Mythological / Historical subjects are a double edged sword. The other cuts are full of galloping rhythms and very forced high pitched vocals. Another double edge sword because it's hard to be the new ICED EARTH or HELLOWEEN, mostly when you are alone like Mr. Vaggelis Tekas  aka Tex.

Despite everything, from time to time, you can click to a riff or a vocal line, but nothing that will last long enough. Too bad because the US Thrash Metal flavored song "The Astral Prison" has something to work with. I don't like to shoot the ambulance, so instead I will recommend some great bands albums by the same label like the amazing WARDRUM's "Desolation" or INNOSENSE's "Outcast".
