Road to Rubble
Necrosexual

NECROSEXUAL comes on like a band that suffers from metal ADHD. When you look at the lists of themes they address in their music, it reads an updated list of the seven deadly sins. The band is fairly prolific with three EPs, one live album, one split, and two full-length albums since their formation in 2011. Their latest album, "Road to Rubble" was released on February 27, 2026, via the Black Metal Archives label.
"Road to Rubble" is all over the place, mostly chaos and discord, which isn't a bad thing when it comes to extreme metal. I'd call it Punk-laden Thrash or Thrash-laden Punk. There is also a bit of glam in there, less in the actual music than in the performative attitude . . . as if it's trying really hard to be something rather than just being itself. The graphics, for instance, are like a Arthur Brown nightmare and that whole vibe extends over to the music itself.
From the album title to the album cover to all the song titles and the lyrics themselves, it's clear that NECROSEXUAL sits at the intersection of horror and humor. They have a twin guitar assault, raspy vocals that aren't quite guttural but still not clean, and a tempo that leans mostly into Thrash, though they do downshift to doom proportions on a few tracks near the end of the album, specifically "Nocturnal Ignition" and "Hard Leather Woman" both of which are also my two of favorite tracks on the album.
I can't say I found anything innovative or exciting about "Road to Rubble" or even NECROSEXUAL. Very middle of the road as far as intensity and maybe a bit over the top with the performative essence. Felt like an amped up Beetlejuice.
