Repetita Iuvant

Albums that force the listener outside of their box are always thought provoking for me, and this album definitely fits that category. Ambient in nature, you can feel the album pulse and release through each song. Fans who want instant gratification may not like this, but for me it’s like Novocain…give it time and it will work.

Try as I may, I could not find any information about this band on The Metal Archives, from their EPK, or from their record label's website. It's instrumental Post-Rock, but that's all I have. So, we will have to let the music do the talking here. The album has five songs. "Calocybe" is first. There is a long, ambient build of sound that takes its time. It continues through the halfway point, where it grows a little darker. It's sort of like a shadow that creeps up slowly when the sun is setting. Then, it's gone…materialized into thin air. "Inid" has a little more sonority and many of the tones are positive, and bright. They are still just a bit muted however, as if they exists somewhere that you can't quite reach out to. They soon begin to flower however, and they are lovely. The pacing begins to pick up, but just as a distorted riff comes in, it ends.

"Majorana" is moodier, and there is a distinct groove bubbling under the surface. In this sense, it's closer to psychedelic rock than anything. It begs you just to get comfortable, close your eyes, and just drink it in. "Harenaria" is just under nine minutes, and thus gives it plenty of time to develop. Sometimes when one travels, people talk about the experience being more about the journey than the destination. I think that same parallel can be drawn here on the album. In other words, enjoy the ride. As it progresses, the ride gets more sunny, and by the end, the top is down and you lost track of the day. "Cavanei" is the final cut; a 13-minute beast. I can see why the band was signed to Argonauta Records…their brand of Post-Rock comes with a side of psychedelica. It is a bit repetitive at times, but that doesn't take away from your enjoyment.
